SPC Gavin J. Colburn committed to the Army Reserve in January 2003, just a few weeks before his eighteenth birthday, while attending Adena High school his senior year. Gavin worked as a truck driver and operator for Bushatz Limestone and Gravel in Chillicothe, Ohio. The 9-11 attack motivated him joining even more so. Gavin planned to attend college to become a Legal attorney. Gavin loved sports and loved playing basketball. He also ran cross country. Gavin loved everyone. Gavin was based with the 542nd Kingsbury, Indiana. Gavin was promoted from Private First Class to Specialist just before his death. He was killed in Iraq.
