Over $128,000 Made possible by BMI Federal Credit Union
The Fallen 15 Scholarship Program is made possible by BMI Federal Credit Union. BMI FCU’s annual Scholarship Golf Open benefits the Fallen 15 Scholarship Fund, and to-date the event has raised over $128,000. The Fallen 15 Scholarship Fund supports higher education for service members, their families and the families of fallen service members.
BMI Federal Credit Union is a member-owned financial institution that is open to everyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Franklin, Licking, Fairfield, Pickaway, Madison, Union, Delaware or Morrow County. BMI FCU’s goal is simple – to improve the financial well-being of their members and the community.
Scholarships will be made available for service members, children of service members, spouses of service members and family members of Fallen Service Members.
- There will be 15 $2,500 scholarships awarded to those pursuing higher education at a vocational/trade school, two-year community college or four-year college or university.

All complete and eligible applications are reviewed and discussed by a three-member committee (to potentially include a member from BMI) and candidates are evaluated based on application and how they will make a positive contribution to the community. Compelling candidates are selected to meet with an interview committee for final consideration. Applicants invited to interview will meet with the selection committee on dates and times to be decided. (Note: not all applicants will be interviewed.)
*Certifications (Peace Officer, Fire, EMT) schools provide training courses year round. Applicants must meet course deadlines and give Fallen 15 30 days to react so we can meet financial deadlines.
For both programs, applicants must be able to prove they have a relationship to a Service Member or are/have been a Service Member in good standing (DD214).
Must meet the requirements/standards of the schools/certification programs they are applying to.
Must provide/agree to the following:
- Personal statement (the statement should reflect how your relationship/connection to the military/Service Member has impacted your life and how you plan to give back to your community and future plans; typed; 250 words or less);
- Description of community involvement (past and present);
- Applicant may be asked to participate in future Fallen 15 events/community events to learn more about the organization (total time involved will not be more than 20 hours over the period of one year) *Money will be paid directly to the institution they plan on attending.
*Scholarship is a one-time awarded program.
